the conversations nathan and i have...

You never what goes through the head of little boys and a lot of it comes out at night, at least that seems to be the case for me. My bathroom has a door that connect to Nathan's room so while I'm getting ready  for bed we often have some very interesting, quite hilarious, and EXTREMELY random conversations. Like seriously I do know where this kid comes up with this stuff. Here are some of the most recent ones...

Story 1:
This was tonight's conversation...

Nathan (reading my Wicked cup) 'So much happened be-fore Dor-othy dropped in'...what does that mean?"

Me: 'Oh great, now I going to have to explain everything'. "Uh, it's just a saying about the play I went to see, because the play was about everything that happened before Dorothy went to Oz."

"Huh, okay." He goes to his room.

Wow, he actually didn't ask a million questions.

A few minutes later...

He walks back in, "Abby, if Jeremiah (a boy we fostered) and I were in a wrestling match, do you think I stay in for a while."

What in the world made him think of that?! "Um probably, yeah."

"Nah, he'd probably pin me in a minute. Okay goodnight"

Story 2:
I'm brushing my teeth and hear a soft knock-knock on the door. 'What?'

'Umm, why does spanish have more words then english?'

'Oh, you mean like how, 'how are you' is only two words in spanish?'

'Yeah.'

'That's just the way it is, sometimes different languages are like that. Now go to bed'

Story 3: I'm getting ready for bed (okay just assume from now on that in all these stories I'm getting ready for bed)

Nathan's exiting the bathroom, but makes his usual stop in door way turns around and says, 'What's the point of sport bras?'

'Well, they give you more support then normal bras and they're nice when you run or play sports, and they're more comfortable.'

'Oh. So do you where both at the same time?'

'No, you just wear one or the other."

He said a bunch of other stuff, but I can't exactly remember what all of that was right now. But I'm writing this all from memory, so just work with me:)

Story 4:
Knock-knock, Nathan walks in.

'Orday.' (pointing to the door)

Me: 'What?'

'Orday, isn't that how you say door in pig latin?'

"Oh, yeah. Now go to bed, you're suppose to be asleep.'

'Ok.'

We say goodnight and he leaves. A little bit later I had to go into his room to grab something...Bad, bad move on my part.

'Abby. If I were to make up a language, I would switch the first and last letters then add eh to the end. So bed would be debeh.

'Oh okay, cool. Now go to sleep.' I leave.

Not a minute later... A very quiet knock on the door because he knows he's suppose to be in bed.

Me: 'whaaattt??'

'Say a word in my language and see if I know what it is'

'No, go to bed'

'Please? Just one word'

'Fine,  kinseh'

He goes back to bed to decipher the word and comes back a moment later, "zinc."

Me: No

"Hmmm, what was is?'

 "Sink"

Ohhh, you made the S sound like Z. Abby, PRONOUCE CLEARLY.'

'Ok, sorry. Go to bed now'

He goes to bed, but a few minutes later...knock knock

"What."

"Give me another word, because the other one was bad'

"Nathan, go to bed!. we can do more tomorrow."

"Okay."

He's comes back, but he's smart enough to know not knock again or come back in the bathroom. So he lays on the floor and continues talking under the door...

"Oh, one more thing. When there are two letters in the beginning of word you put both of them at the end."

patience abby, patience. "You mean like a blend?"

"Yeah, like SH, CH, and CK"

I open the door. "So, shirt would be tirsheh."

"uhhh, yeah."

'Okay, now you really need to go to bed now.'

"Okay."

Story 5:
Nathan pokes his head in the door, " I need to go to the bathroom."

"Then go."

He stares at me.

"I won't look."

So he goes and as he's leaving he pokes me and says, "You need to lose some weight. hehe."

"Nathan! Lesson 101 of being a guy, you never say that to a girl. Just be glad I'm you're sister.

"Well it's true, I'm just saying. hehe"

"Go to bed."

A few minutes later...

In one of those loud whispers,  "Abby!"

I open the door, "What?"

"But what if a girl really is fat?"

"You still don't say anything"

'Ok. Soooo, when does chubby not become cute?"

"Uhhh, I don't know, maybe seven."

"Okay, so once you're eight you're fat."

"Umm yeah, I guess."

"Okay"

"Alright, goodnight"

Thanksgiving!

So Thanksgiving's guest list for us consists normally of lots of, family, extended family, and neighbors. It's not uncommon for us to have 20 or more people at our house for dinner. Actually, if we have less then 20 people, I considered that not really that many. I'm used to older sisters hustling around, adding the crunchy onion thingies to the green bean casserole or brown sugar and marshmallows to the dish of yams, Dad and Dan cutting the turkey, Aunt Anne asking where she should put her dishes of cheesy cauliflower and brussels sprouts, someone rushing around looking for the pop-gun for the thanksgiving play,(quite a vital prop, I might add. I mean really, what's a pilgrim to do with out a gun?) Dan snooping around trying to taste test all the yummy foods, everyone trying to guess the right amount in the candy jars, Mom setting out her awesome cream corn, and putting her cobbler out back to cool, kids speed walking and giggling though the kitchen, because they've been told endless times no running in the kitchen, only to burst into a run again as soon they exit the other side. So yeah, the third thursday in November is usually a pretty full and noisy house for us. I guess that's what you get for having a big family and a rather large house.
This year's thanksgiving was a little different though. There were just 11 of us, and three of them were under four:) It was quieter and it was nice to have a different kind a day this year, but I think I still like the bigger crowds better. We had two smaller turkeys this year (as opposed to our usual 30 pounder) and we stuffing, cranberry sauce, roasted veggies, mom's aweeesommee cream corn, and mashed potatoes. We also had quite a collection of desserts including, (but limited to:) my brownies shaped like a bear face, Mariah turkey looking mini pumpkin pies, (mariah wanted to make animal shaped desserts) pumpkin roll, carmel apples and Kate's yummy apple pie. So yes, different as it was, it was still quite a fun and relaxing evening. Plus we got to watch the Redskins beat the Cowboys which is always a plus:) haha kidding, they actually made quite an impressive comeback in the end, just not enough to win:)
