I'm not exactly sure where to start, so much has been going on! We've been home from Florida since May second. When I say home, I don't actually mean I've been at my house. Rather, I mean that we're based out of Pennsylvania. But we're still traveling a lot. Since we've been home, I've been to Nashville, Chicago, and we also made trip back to North Carolina. Internationally, Dad went to visit Emily in Rwanda and Mom went to Haiti, and they both just left two days ago for a two week trip to Europe. Some of their good friends own a catamaran, and they will be visiting France and Italy, and sailing around the Mediterranean with them. My parents totally deserve this trip, I'm so happy that they are getting this time to rest, relax, and have some fun with friends!
As for us kids, having two parents-less weeks isn't necessarily the bad end of the deal...at least in our opinion. Anj and Jen came with their three kids for the first two nights to stay with us. That's always fun because they're kiddos are like the cutest things ever. We also got to watch them last weekend, to give their parents a much needed getaway.
The Daniel family, our friends, were also visiting last weekend. So it was quite a full house. They have four kids, 15, 12, 9, and 3. We hadn't seen them in almost two years, so needless to say, it was a blast to finally get to hang out. Cookouts, swimming, canoeing (Emilee their nine-year-old and I were like the Pocahontases of the lake), s'mores, soccer, fishing; it was a great way to kick-off 'Almost Summer'. (As opposed to 'Really Summer', because we're all still in school and it's not June 21st yet). The guys actually cleaned and cooked one of the bass they caught. It was the first time I can remember anyone doing that, it was kinda cool, but I didn't really watch. Nathan, their oldest, plays soccer. He's got many great qualities and talents, but that might be one of my favorites. I love having someone that is always up to passing the ball around. Many evenings, it's just me, my ball, and the grass, or the garage doors. For some reason, I can never get my sibling to join me. Except for Nathan (Haas), he's sometimes up for it. Or I just lovingly force him:)
Andrew and Jen went back home today, and Alezah flew in from Ohio today to replace them. Tomorrow we leave with her on the road trip of epic proportions to Ohio, where we'll spend the week with her family.
Tonight, Julia (our 14-year-old neighbor and friend) invited us to bike around the lake with her. Kate stayed back, but Mariah and I went. We're training for the Bear Creek Triathlon this summer. We made around in 13 minutes! And that time even includes a short break on one of the bridges. It's like 3. some miles around, so I think we made pretty good time. When we got back, we jumped in the lake. Jess, Julia's older sister joined us. It was pretty cold, and even more freezing six inched below the surface. So I tried to swim as parallel to the top of the water as I could, trying not to stir up the chilly temperatures down below. It was starting to get dark on our swim back and Mariah was so funny because she was sure she was going to run into a snapper or snake or something. She was quoting the Bible like nobody's business. Things like, "Whom shall I fear, if God is with me." and "If God is on my side, who can be against me." At one point she was yelling, "If I die, I go to heaven!" and then she started quoting John 3:16! All the while, paddling franticly to shore and trying to scrabble onto the dock. Ah, she's a funny one, if she's comfortable around you.
Well, I'm off to pack for Ohio now. I also need a good night's sleep because early tomorrow morning, we might go for a run with Jess and Julia. We're quite the hard core trainers:) Or I might just go for a walk with Jess...maybe I'll do that. I'll leave the running and hard core training to Mariah an
d Julia;)
Over and out for now!

Creek walking with Jess and Julia.
The main reason we went to Nashville was because an orphan awareness and adoption assistance organization, Show Hope, was celebrating their 10th anniversary.
